Financial markets are characterized by volatility, incomplete information, structural changes, heterogeneous data sources, and uncertainty that can substantially affect the reliability of predictive models. Conventional machine-learning systems frequently produce point forecasts or discrete risk classifications without adequately communicating the uncertainty associated with their predictions. Probabilistic machine learning provides an alternative by representing possible outcomes through predictive distributions, uncertainty estimates, and risk-sensitive diagnostics. This study examines the application of probabilistic machine learning to financial market volatility forecasting, credit-risk assessment, and uncertainty-aware financial prediction. A structured literature-based methodology was used to synthesize research covering machine-learning forecasting, multivariate financial-risk prediction, ensemble learning, distributed credit-risk assessment, probabilistic artificial intelligence, and uncertainty quantification. Mahajan et al. (2024) demonstrate the value of multivariate data analytics and ensemble learning for financial-risk prediction, providing a foundation for combining heterogeneous financial indicators and multiple predictive models. Konatham et al. (2025) extend financial credit-risk modelling into distributed environments through federated learning and homomorphic encryption, demonstrating the relevance of privacy-aware predictive architectures. Barvaliya (2025) contributes a probabilistic-AI perspective through rank-aware and tail-sensitive diagnostics for convergence assurance in multi-chain inference. Together, these studies support an integrated financial-risk framework in which predictive models generate risk estimates while uncertainty diagnostics evaluate the reliability and stability of those estimates. The resulting framework combines multivariate financial information, ensemble prediction, probabilistic inference, uncertainty diagnostics, and privacy-aware distributed learning to support more comprehensive financial-risk monitoring.
